Reading

I finished Devils by Dostoevsky—WOW! It is definitely my favorite of his major works so far (though this may change when I get to The Brothers Karamazov). It was dark and violent with a cast of intense characters that have shaped up to be my favorite group of characters. And while reading Devils, I learned about the feud (beef) between Dostoevsky and Ivan Turgenev. There's a character in Devils named Karmazinov, who is a parody of Turgenev. It was very comical. As for the plot—where to begin?

I also listened to the audiobook of The Haunting of Hill House, which put me in a very Gothic mood, so I listened to Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier right after! The former was okay, but absolutely loved Rebecca.

Eating

On New Year's, I ate at Hell's Kitchen in Las Vegas. I had the scallop appetizer, the ⭐ Beef Wellington ⭐, and the sticky toffee pudding. I have been a huge HK fan for over 10 years, so this was a very big deal and a bucket list visit 🥹
